Jordan Martin – Level 4 Information Systems Business Analyst apprentice at AXA Insurance
“I’m already seeing the benefits and it’s improving my confidence in approaching situations.”
What would you say to someone considering an apprenticeship?
“My advice to anyone considering the apprenticeship is to go for it! It’s a really engaging way to learn and you’re able to go away from the lessons and look for ways to apply your new skills and start putting them into practice.
Even though I have only been on the course for four months, I am already seeing the benefits and it’s improving my confidence in approaching situations.”
What made you decide to do an apprenticeship?
“I decided to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to broaden my knowledge around the role and the apprenticeship offers the perfect opportunity to do this. We learn more about the role and also learn and immediately apply new techniques to real live projects in the workplace.”
How do you plan to progress after you finish your apprenticeship?
“When I have completed the apprenticeship, I hope to continue to progress within my career as a Business Analyst. I think the apprenticeship will give me the confidence to apply for more senior positions once I have had time to put all of my new knowledge and skills into practice!”
Have you applied your new knowledge to your role on the workplace?
“Since starting the apprenticeship four months ago, I have learnt about all of the different investigation techniques (workshops/interviews etc.) that we can use to work on requirements for change.
As part of this, we learnt about the theory behind each one. This means I now know how to select the most appropriate technique based on the information I need to gather from my stakeholders.”
